Call for Applications for Visiting Professor 2019-10

• To hold a PhD and/or a Master's Degree.
• Full-time availability.
• Residence in Bogotá is mandatory throughout the visiting time.

Application materials

• Syllabus proposal of course or courses to lecture.
• Research proposal within a six-month plan: this should include activities and achievements expected in each period and must be explicitly linked to one of the School of Law's research projects, particularly, to one of the research clusters. The applicant should discuss the research proposal with the cluster coordinator.
• Curriculum vitae.
• Motivation letter.
• Starting date: January of 2019.

Application procedure

• Application materials (letter of presentation of the candidate addressed to the dean, up-to-date resume, copy of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, accreditation of experience in teaching and researching in the areas of their specialty through certification issued by a University or research center , proposed program of one of the courses of the basic cycle of the undergraduate law of Universidad de los Andes, proposed work in researching for six months, clearly separating the achievements and activities of each of them) should be sent to the following e-mail Esta dirección electrónica esta protegida contra spam bots. • The Selection Committee (conformed by the directors of the areas related to the candidate's expertise, the Undergraduate Program Director and the Legal Education Director) will select the pre-candidates based on their merits and achievements and eventually conduct interviews with them.
• The Selection Committee will present their preliminary evaluation and conclusions based on the application materials and the interviews conducted to the Faculty's Council, which will make the final decision on the elected candidate.


• Full-time employment contract/contract of service for 6 months, renewable for six additional months. The renewal's decision will be made by the Faculty's Council.
• Will be allowed to receive bonus for participating in research projects with independent financing.
• Will be supervised by a Professor assigned by the Selection Committee.

The applicant is expected to

• Support her/his/their research cluster or project on building external financing projects.
• Lecture, at least, 90 students divided in two courses during the semester. This will not be necessary if the professor is participating in a special project or investigation, is lecturing graduate-level courses or continued education (she/he/they must get the respectively approbation on grounds of the Professorial Statute).
• Work on pedagogical material or write an article and submit it to evaluation for further publication (it must indicate that is a product of the academic visit to Universidad de los Andes Law School). Visiting professor will have a one year term to submit the article or the pedagogical material to the Law School.
• Actively participate in the Cijus Workshops and Doctoral Colloquiums.

About the Law School

The Law School of Universidad de los Andes was founded in 1968 and is currently recognized as one of the most prestigious in Latin-America.
